Welcome to the Winding Road to Wanaka, the finale celebrations for the 2010 Goldfields Cavalcade.

Since 1991, the Otago Goldfields Heritage Trust has organised the annual Cavalcade, an event for horse-riders, wagoners and walkers to trek across the hills and lowlands of Central Otago, re-tracing the steps and trails of the gold miners who sought their fortune in inland Otago at the end of the nineteenth century.

The next Goldfields Cavalcade will be finishing in Lake Wanaka on Saturday 27th February 2010 and the Cavalcade Host Town Committee in Wanaka are organising the finale celebrations.

Several hundred cavalcaders will ride into town at High Noon. They will parade down Ardmore Street and along the lakefront, dressed in period costume. Line the streets early to get a great viewing spot and step back in time to the 1860’s.

Join in the fun at Pembroke Park with a music extravaganza of local talent. There’ll be food, drink and market stalls to keep the family entertained throughout the afternoon, 11am to 4pm.

Are you a stallholder wanting to run a stall? You can download a stallholder application form here.
Note: applications need to be received by Friday 29th January and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Book your tickets to the Hoedown on Saturday night and dance the night away at the Lake Wanaka Centre with Wanaka’s own Highway 89 – 8pm to late – tickets $25 online from Ticketfest, by phone - 0220 4 TICKET or in person at the Wanaka i-SITE (note: in-person sales incur an additional $1 booking fee).
